LAST MAN IN TOWER – Hindi | Manoj Bajpayee | Divya Dutta | Boman Irani

Posted on September 2, 2026September 2, 2026 By Filmyhit Movies

The official trailer for Last Man in Tower has been released, offering a sharp and unsettling look at a story rooted in Mumbai’s everyday realities. Based on Aravind Adiga’s bestselling novel, the film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Divya Dutta, and Boman Irani. Directed by Ben Rekhi and adapted for the screen by Sooni Taraporevala, with dialogues by Juhi Chaturvedi, it is scheduled to release in theatres on 11 September 2026. Produced by Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media along with Ben Rekhi, Guneet Dogra, and Pratiksha Rao, the film examines what happens when one man’s principles collide with the collective desire for a better life.

One Flat, One Refusal, an Entire Building Divided

At the centre of the story is Vishram Society, a modest Mumbai building that suddenly finds itself at the heart of a lucrative redevelopment offer. A builder presents a deal that promises substantial money and modern homes. Most residents are ready to accept. One man is not.

Manoj Bajpayee plays Yogesh Mishra, known as Masterji, a retired schoolteacher who refuses to sell his flat. Because the project requires unanimous consent, his single “no” stops everything. What begins as a personal decision quickly turns the building against him. Friends become adversaries. Neighbours who once shared peaceful lives now see him as the obstacle standing between them and a transformed future. The trailer captures the mounting pressure, the moral arguments, and the quiet intensity of a man who will not be moved.

The film asks a simple but difficult question: what is a home worth—a lifetime of memories or the highest bid someone is willing to pay? In a city where almost everything appears to have a price, Masterji’s refusal becomes both an act of resistance and a source of growing isolation.

A Strong Ensemble Anchors the Conflict

The cast brings considerable weight to the material:

ActorRole / Contribution
Manoj BajpayeeYogesh Mishra / Masterji – the retired teacher who refuses to sell
Divya DuttaKey role in the central conflict
Boman IraniPivotal role (first on-screen pairing with Bajpayee)
Sukant GoelSupporting role
Harish KhannaSupporting role
Chandan Roy SanyalSupporting role
Ujjwal Chopra, Swaroopa Ghosh, Uday Chandra, Madhuri Bhatia and othersEnsemble of residents and figures around the society

Manoj Bajpayee’s ability to convey quiet conviction and internal conflict makes him a natural fit for Masterji. Divya Dutta and Boman Irani add emotional and institutional pressure to the story. The supporting cast populates Vishram Society with the ordinary faces of a community under strain.

From Page to Screen with Careful Craft

Aravind Adiga’s novel explored ambition, morality, friendship, and the dangerous lengths ordinary people can go to when their dreams suddenly acquire a price. Sooni Taraporevala’s adaptation preserves that focus while grounding it in the specific pressures of Mumbai redevelopment. Juhi Chaturvedi’s dialogues bring the tensions of the building into sharp, everyday language.

Director Ben Rekhi approaches the material with restraint. The trailer emphasises atmosphere, faces, and the slow corrosion of neighbourly bonds rather than overt melodrama. Music by Govind Vasantha supports the emotional undercurrent, while cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran captures both the confined spaces of the society and the larger city that surrounds it.

A Story That Feels Immediately Relevant

Redevelopment is a lived reality for many in Mumbai and other Indian cities. The trailer has already drawn comments from viewers who recognise the politics, the persuasion, and the personal costs involved when a building is offered a deal that requires complete agreement. Last Man in Tower does not present easy villains or heroes. It places a principled man in the path of collective aspiration and asks how far both sides will go.

The film marks the first time Manoj Bajpayee and Boman Irani share the screen, a pairing that carries its own anticipation. Rana Daggubati’s involvement as producer through Spirit Media signals a commitment to literary adaptations with strong ensemble performances.

September 11 in Theatres

Last Man in Tower arrives in cinemas on 11 September 2026. It positions itself as a thoughtful drama about home, belonging, and the price of standing alone. In a cinematic landscape often dominated by larger-than-life narratives, the film turns its attention to a single building and the ordinary people whose lives are upended by the promise of money and modernity.

LAST MAN IN TOWER – Official Trailer | Manoj Bajpayee, Divya Dutta, Boman Irani | Ben Rekhi| 11 Sept – YouTube

Manoj Bajpayee’s Masterji becomes the last man willing to say no. Around him, neighbours weigh security against loyalty, future comfort against present peace. The trailer suggests a film that will not look away from the discomfort of those choices. On 11 September, audiences will step into Vishram Society and discover how far one man’s truth can hold against the pressure of an entire community.
